If you are trying to sell your services or products online through your website then I’m sure that by now you must have spent a lot of your hard-earned money plus your valuable time and efforts to generate more traffic towards your website. But most of the times you won’t be able to figure it out that even after having a really amazing and attractive website and your products are actually offering great quality but still why your site is failing to convert those visits in customers. Well the main reason behind this can be problems with your landing page.
A landing page is a stand-alone page of your site which the visitors see after clicking on any link provided by your ads or search results or PPC results etc. Basically landing page is designed specifically for purpose of converting traffic into customers.
For your ads and other search results you must have a well optimized landing page to be displayed in front of visitors. It is not necessary to offer home page as the first page to your visitors, especially in cases when your home page doesn’t give much description about your products and services. In such cases you should better design a landing page other than your homepage which displays your products in an attractive manner to bind visitors.
Anatomy of an effective Landing Page
Dedicated One Landing page for one purpose
The very basic thing to start with is to define the basic purpose of the landing page. You must dedicate one landing page to serve one purpose only. If your site offers more than one type services, all of which require different action to take place then you should define different landing pages for different services. So you must be very much clear of goal of each of your landing page so as to make clear to the visitors what a particular landing page is about.
Keep your landing page simple
The second important thing is to keep your landing page simple and clean. As visitors get irritated with over-filled web-page, so try to keep only important things on your page. Also if you will be adding many heavy graphics on your page then its loading page would also get increased and hence keeping visitors waiting for even longer. So try to keep page as simple as possible so as to make visitors find things easily.
Show results as well to people
Along with presenting your services and products description on your landing page you must also not forgot to show the results of your products & services as people always love to see the actual reviews about a product before finally going to purchase it. So it would be really helpful for your conversions to put your client-testimonials on your landing page to present your products in a more convincing way.
Call-To-Action is so far the most important element of a landing page as this is the actual action that you want your visitor to perform. For example if you are selling some software then you must want the visitor make a purchase as well and for this you must put some button or link to direct visitors to the ordering page.
Thus make it sure to add Call-To-Action button or link or form etc to your landing page to make it even more effective and also increase your chances of better conversion rates.
Well earlier I advised to make your landing page simple but don’t just think to make it totally text based instead you should better use some good and product related graphics on your landing page as well presented pictures and images grab user attention in a better way than the text entries. Also use a good colour scheme with some contrast effects that looks eye catchy to visitors at once.
This is really very urgent to make things clear to your visitors specially the navigation. Don’t confuse Links with simple text on your page. As most of the users have simple strategy to identify links in blue colour so make use of these general concepts to help users easily find the vital links like order now, click here etc by keeping their colour blue which will help visitors identify these important links in easy manner.
This is really a very important step for a successful landing page. You must first test your landing page from a general user’s point of view and think whether you find it good from a user’s perspective. Also you can try offering different landing pages to different set of visitors and then can get better view of what the maximum users are actually liking. So keep on testing on your landing page to result in choosing the best one for the best results.
So instead of simply putting efforts in wrong direction you must pay attention to your landing page as this will be the first thing a visitor will see and hence your landing page is going to let users decide whether they are interested in making a purchase from your site or not?
