One of the popular methods to market and promote your website and more specifically your blog is Guest Posting. Yes guest blogging is having enormous power and a number of benefits to your blog including:

-      Getting relevant backlinks from other blogs

-      Making more people aware of your blog

-      Getting benefited by other blogs’ audience
For making these effective guest posts you need to approach the relevant blog owners to get your posts published on their sites or blogs. But simply approaching the bloggers and specially the famous ones doesn’t guarantee publishment of your post. For this you need to approach these blog owners in an effective way and impress them by your behavior. In this article I am going to put together some of the most commonly mistakes that guest posters often do.
1.) Contacting the wrong blogs:

 wrong email

You might be thinking of getting your post approved on most popular blogs which are getting a lot of traffic and users engagement. Well you would have considered these blogs as the best place to get your post listed on. However you will be surprised to know that this is totally a wrong approach.

You are no doubt having good approach to look for high traffic blogs for your posts but this should not be the only criteria for choosing a blog, instead you should made a guest post to a relevant blog which will give you the relevant visitors.

Suppose you have approved a post on an irrelevant niche but highly popular blog then there may be chance you will be getting some traffic but that would never be actually relevant and interested in your niche. So take a great care in choosing and approaching a relevant blog for making guest post.

2.) Using only a general email template

If you are going to approach a webmaster of a blog allowing guest post then you must send the message or email to him in a way looking genuine and impressive to him, as first impression is the last impression. You may be aware that is a person is running a blog allowing guest posting then he will be getting a lot of mails for accepting guest posts as well and will be well experienced in guessing which one actually deserves to be accepted. As this initial email is actually going to decide fate of your guest post offer, so make it bit personal.

It would never be considered a right way if you are going to start your message with “Hello There” or “Dear Webmaster” etc, instead you should research about the name of the webmaster which will make it personal and would make a good impression on the blog owner specifying that you have actually done good research about the blog before offering a post blindly.

3.) Not providing some good reason to justify why you should be allowed to post

good reasonsA perfect guest post is one that makes sense to the publisher’s blog or site plus should offer something unique to the visitors. As the webmaster of a popular blog, allowing guest posts, will be getting a number of other requests as well and many more people would be eager to write posts for it, so you have to fight against a lot of competitors to get your post approved. Hence you must provide some impressive and unique reason that why your post should be given priority over others.

One tip to stand alone in the crowd is to do some research about what topic haven’t covered yet on the blog and should tell the webmaster about the particular topic in form of some catchy title at the time of approaching him.

4.) Proving enough examples for proving your writing abilities

career_writing_sampleA webmaster of an already famous blog will always give priority to reputation of the blog rather than quantity of the posts. So he will be choosing the writers which will actually have proof of their great writing skills with them. So it would always be a better option to mention some really good examples of your writings in your initial email so as to trim down chances of disapproval.

5.) Not Proof-reading your email

proof readYes this is really very crucial mistake. If you are approaching a webmaster for the very first time then you should definitely proofread your email message in a very careful manner. As here you are going to talk about your writing skills so if you got any mistake with your very first message then it can leave a really unprofessional impression on the receiver and can increase chances of rejection to a great extent.

6.) Explaining the obvious things:

You should keep your approach very genuine and must not write a long message just to impress the webmaster to accept your request.  As no one have much time to waste, so value the precious time of the webmaster you are going to contact. Don’t ever explain the obvious things like “how guest post is going to be helpful”, “improve search engine ranking” etc, as the webmaster will already be knowing the value of guest posting that’s why he’s allowing such posts on his blog. So it would just be ignored by him. So be professional and keep the important details in your message only. If you are looking for web design blogs then i would suggest you to have a look on Austin web design firm blog.

So take these tips in consideration next time you are going to approach a webmaster for guest posting. I’m sure you will make all the way through it.
