A common perception about WordPress is that, it is used by bloggers and it is completely true however, you cannot rule out the fact that many small businesses are also using open source network of WordPress for their E-Commerce sites as well. Whether you are a blogger or a small business owner using WordPress, at some point you will be required to provide your visitors with the option to register on your site or to log in. One noticeable thing about WordPress is that, it offers a very easy way for user registration and login by default but one drawback for many people like me is that, instead of your business logo, WordPress logo is being displayed on login/ Registration page.
Of course, you want to provide a customized page to your users so they feel safe while logging into their accounts right? Well, this is the same issue that we are going to discuss in this post today. The biggest reason for which I wanted to customized the login screen of my WordPress site was because, there were many customers who refused to register considering the Sign Up button my site had redirected them to some third party website. I know that was really pathetic situation because they could have seen the URL in their address bar to verify, it was still my website.
Well, I can’t really blame them for this because there was a logo shown on registration page and that was not of my website. We all know that by default, WordPress logo is displayed on registration and login screen but definitely, all those customers of mine are not web masters, they are just simple customers who don’t know anything about this technology stuff. So, I’m supposed to give them benefit of doubt here. But hey, I cannot keep the WordPress logo on that screen just to piss off more customers so, I decided to get rid of that logo and place my logo instead.
I found different methods for changing Logo on WordPress login screen but the method that I’m going to share with you is the simplest of all. This will take only a few minutes and your WordPress login screen will be customized.
- First, save your logo on your hosting account/ server and note down its address (most importantly, not down its name with the extension like logo.png).
- Secondly, go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Themes> Editor.
- Here you will find a file named “Functions.php”. Open it and insert the following code in it.
- Don’t worry about the placement of code because you can place it anywhere in that file.
After putting this code in your website, You will have this view :
So you see that was really an easy to change your WordPress login screen logo. I have never been contacted by any customer about the login screen complaints and I’m very happy about it. You must save a backup file before making any changes to the coding of your WordPress theme.
