There may be time when you need to install WordPRess for your Site and have no idea of how to do it. Well there is no need to be worried anymore as I am posting a complete guide to Manual installation of WordPress for you site.

Installing WordPress Manually

If you want to learn everything on your own and rely more on your own capabilities then you should definitely go for choosing Manual Installation instead of Automatic one. Below is the step wise procedure to do so:

Downloading the WordPress:

The very basic task of yours would be to download the WordPress file for installation. For this you need to visit the official WordPress Download Page. There you will be presented with the zip file for latest version of WordPress to be downloaded. Click there on that Download Option and then get the zip file saved on your hard disk location which is easy to locate for you for later use.

Unzip the Folder:

After the download is complete the next task will be to navigate to the zip folder you have just saved from WordPress.org.  Unzip the folder to get access to the original files. Now you are ready to use them.

Make a Database:

Now you have to deal with technical part as you have to create the most vital element for your site, that is Database. Sign in your web hosting’s admin panel and make MYSQL database.
Then you have to build your database’s name, username and password as well. You will be required this information later to completely configure and install the WordPress, so save it with great care. Also provide access to your user after complete creation of database.

Updating Config File of WordPress:

After completing previous step,  your task would be to update the data in config file of WordPress with information from Database, you have just created above.
You have to locate a file named “wp-config-sample.php” in the unzipped folder of installed WordPress files.

Simply get that config file opened and add the information, you have saved from database, to this file. Search for the following code in config file of WordPress folder : [database_name_here], , [username_here], [password_here] and replace them with database name, username and password respectively that you have assigned to your database in 3rd Step.
After doing all these updations, save this file as “wp-config.php” and advance to the further step.

Configuring FTP:

You must be aware that you need to have access to a FTP application for uploading the files to your hosting server. Thus next step is to install your FTP and connect to web-hosting server.

Upload the Updated WordPress Installation documents:

Navigate to “public_html” folder in your FTP application and drag & drop all files from WordPress Folder from your system to this directory named “public_html”. Thus you will get your WordPress website on your main domain with URL: www.yourwebsitedomain.com.

However if you want to add a blog as a subdirectory on your main website then you simply have to make a new folder under the main directory means “public_html” and drop your all WordPress files there. And then your WordPress enabled blog will be available at a URL like this: www.yourwebsitedomain.com/subdirectory/

Running  Installation script:

The very last step will be to run the WordPress script for installation which would be accessible from your main domain www.yourwebsitedomain.com if the WordPress is installed straight in your “public_html” folder or from www.yourwebsitedomain.com/subdirectory/ if you get installed WordPress in a subdirectory under main public directory of your domain. You simply need to provide your site’s name, log in details and email id of yours.

And now, after completing all above steps, you are having your WordPress website ready in front of you.
